Thanks for being civil and allowing me to explain myself (no, seriously, I can’t stress this enough), but I think you have me misunderstood. I don’t think I’ve ever implied she was ever close to basic. I would explain myself, but I can’t even start because I would never say such a thing. I’ll explain my reasoning/defend myself for the rest of what you said though, because I admit I sometimes do throw around the words “typical” and “boring”, but trust me I don’t mean them in the sense that you think I do. 

I regret using the word boring in my most recent post without explaining myself that I’m talking about Jeyne-haters’ definition of boring. I should have said “nice” “generally normal” or “not advertised in flashing lights as Badass Babe™”, which is what people who think she is pointless use to argue against her. From all that we know about Jeyne, she’s kind, caring, thoughtful, wants to be a good wife, and has her heart and intentions in the right place. For many people in this fandom who for some reason think you have to be some morally grey badass to be interesting, she is boring. Certainly not for me. 

Here’s where it gets sort of tricky. I don’t know what you’re really refering to, but I’ll give an example of when my defending Jeyne might have gotten confusing. Some people love Talisa and hate Jeyne because Jeyne’s “boring”. Honestly, these people are helpless. I am not going to sit here and explain to them why being kind and sweet and caring doesn’t make Jeyne boring, because chances are they’re the same ignorant asses who dislike Catelyn and Sansa for the same reasons. So when I talk to people like this, I sink to their level and say “so Jeyne’s boring? okay. we’ll here’s (1) and (2) and (3) as reasons I would rather have boring old Jeyne than Talisa any day”. So when I use boring, I’m facetiously using their definition of boring, as in “Not-Talisa”. If “boring” is not being some mysterious inigma who questions her king and has a dark backstory, then hey, maybe that’s okay. 

I get that I’m not really talking about Jeyne here and more defending myself, but here’s everything I have to say about Jeyne and her relationship with Robb. I strongly suggest you read it, and hopefully you’ll realize where I’m coming from better. 

So yeah, I do like Jeyne being more or less “normal” and what it adds to Robb and Jeyne’s stories, because I’m the type of person who can read from an overarching perspective and realize why something specific is done and what it brings to the story. I appreciate her as a character more than I can even put into words, but understand most of the type what I write about Jeyne is regarding what she brings to the story, because that’s the issue with Jeyne. The hate she gets is never “Jeyne isn’t a good person”. It’s “Jeyne is useless”. So I’m not going to argue with people by saying “Jeyne has a good heart”, because that’s not in question. Even people who think Jeyne is the most pointless character in ASOIAF will agree that she’s a good person. The question is whether or not she deserves a place in the story (a topic I am extremely invested in after D&D have apparently decided she doesn’t), so, despite the fact that I truly adore her from a personal level, I often have to treat her as a plot device. It’s the sad truth.
