I actually wrote this a little while ago on the subject of Jeyne/Maggy/the prophecy. I explained everything, but long story short I’ve always seen the prophecy as non-literal, and I sort of thought it would be the prophecy itself that would overthrow Cersei from her position of queen because of the paranoia it instills in her. so I think the “younger and more beautiful” queen would end up being whichever female character, powerful or not, interested in the iron throne or not, really throws Cersei over the edge. it’s a nice little way the prophecy can come true but still be sort of subverted as GRRM loves. and I’ve always thought that really made Sansa a possibility, but if the theories of Jeyne escaping Riverrun, and even being pregnant with Robb’s baby, are true, that really makes her a possibility. IMO the lannisters were really lucky that the starks had their downfall when they did, since things started going downhill for the lannisters soon after, and they’re especially fragile now - the sheer thought of the fact that things aren’t over for team stark could be disastrous to them. (not to mention how poetic it would be to have the granddaughter of maggy the frog - who cersei looked down on and treated like absolute shit - to be the ultimate undoing of cersei) 

and on the second part, i’ve actually never been able to figure out how in on it jeyne was and what exactly the westerlings plans are. just when I think I understand I have another idea and ahh. like I was sure that Jeyne’s mother was in on it from the beginning, but in AFFC (I think - it’s been a while since I read) she seemed pissed that her son died at the red wedding, which shows how little control even she had over it. a lot of people speculate that jeyne’s mom (sybelle) knew robb was coming to the crag and had already convened with the lannisters and convinced jeyne to seduce robb, but I don’t think that happened. my best guess is what happened between jeyne and robb was genuine, and the lannisters found out and took advantage of the situation/talked to sybelle (probably arranging for an alliance with the lannisters, since it was clear robb was losing) but even she didn’t know what she was in for. 

as for jeyne crying as robb left, i think what you said is definitely a possibility. as i’ve always seen it (i don’t know if you believe the theory that jeyne’s actually pregnant), but assuming that’s true, that’s only possible if she got pregnant sometime around her stay at riverrun, which means she would have had to stop taking the tea her mom was giving her which means she became aware (or at the very least was suspicious) of sybelle’s plotting. idk, that theory just helps explain why she may have had an idea that robb’s trip to the twins was bad news, but regardless of how she found out, i’m almost positive she was crying because of some degree of suspicion :(

oh my god. sorry I completely lack the ability to write anything intelligible but take that as proof of how mad that shit makes me. 

Like  from a more objective standpoint, Jeyne’s existence as a character and personality are written in the best possible ways to bring out certain traits in Robb’s (and her) character we would never otherwise see AND make that whole storyline and circumstances sympathetic/interesting (even if from a more outside/meta POV) where it could have been godawful if either of their characters were any different. 

AND FROM A SUBJECTIVE STANDPOINT, IT’S JUST NOT OKAY. ESP BECAUSE EVERY SELF-INSERT IS ALWAYS SOME TALISA-ESQUE IMPOSSIBLY FIESTY MYSTERIOUS SNARKY WARRIOR BATTLE MAIDEN, AND FOR FUCKS SAKE JEYNE IS LITERALLY THE MOST NONSENSICAL CHARACTER TO REPLACE WITH THAT NONSENSE, CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT PEOPLE WHO LIKE HER ARE DRAWN TO HER BECAUSE SHE’S A “LADY”. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? SHE’S 100% FUCKING OKAY WITH BEING A “LADY” AND SO IS ROBB (I THINK PEOPLE FORGET THIS?)

also I’m just always bitter about self-inserts in Robb fanfics because they’re basically inescapable. Want to explore the dynamics of Robb and Asha or Robb and Margaery had they formed a political alliance? Nope too bad, here have a poorly written fic that’s just 3000 words of Robb making a fool of himself and Asha/Margaery/Jeyne/etc screaming at him.
