It was not until they were mounted and on their way that Bran allowed himself to taste the sweet air of victory. By then, his pup was snuggled inside his leathers, warm against him, safe for the long ride home. Bran was wondering what to name him. Halfway across the bridge, Jon pulled up suddenly.
“What is it, Jon?” their lord father asked.
“Can’t you hear it?”
Bran could hear the wind in the trees, the clatter of their hooves on the ironwood planks, the whimpering of his hungry pup, but Jon was listening to something else.
“There,” Jon said. He swung his horse around and galloped back across the bridge. They watched him dismount where the direwolf lay dead in the snow, watched him kneel. A moment later he was riding back to them, smiling.
“He must have crawled away from the others,” Jon said.
“Or been driven away,” their father said, looking at the sixth pup. His fur was white, where the rest of the litter was grey. His eyes were as red as the blood of the ragged man who had died that morning. Bran thought it curious that this pup alone would have opened his eyes while the others were still blind.
“An albino,” Theon Greyjoy said with wry amusement. “This one will die even faster than the others.”
Jon Snow gave his father’s ward a long, chilling look. “I think not, Greyjoy,” he said. “This one belongs to me.”

the worst was that i was tearing up at theon’s speech 

so when dagmer knocked him out

i didn’t know if i should laugh or cry louder or be shocked

or feel like an idiot for crying since the ironborn were faking

so i just sort of sat there and choked on air

I know I’m a bit Theon/Robb-parallel-happy sometimes 

but when it took Theon so many swings to finally get Rodrik’s head off

it reminded me of in ASOS when Robb had to execute Lord Karstark, and he did it himself because the man who passes the sentence must swing the sword but it was horrible and it took him like 8 or something swings to finally get it off and he was completely inconsolable afterwards. He took on his father’s duties that he looked up to his whole life, and in that moment, along others, realized that it’s not easy. He got what he wanted, but at what cost? 

and honestly,

I don’t see how anyone can hate Theon when him and Robb are going through the same exact things. Luckily for Robb, he has a concrete idea of who his family is, and who the “bad guys” are, so Robb comes out of this mess a ‘hero’. But when it comes down to it, each one of them is just as lost as the other when it comes to this responsibility suddenly put in his hands. Both of them were so eager to grow up and prove themselves, but parallels like this imo really show that they both got what they wanted, and they’re both suffering as a result. 

Joe Dempsie [Gendry]: It got quite competitive on set — to the extent of complete body fascism on set. Alfie Allen [Theon Greyjoy], Richard Madden [Robb Stark]… we were all trying to get in the best shape possible.
Interviewer: So who’s winning that war? Who’s winning the best body on Game Of Thrones?
Joe Dempsie: You know what? I don’t know. I have not seen the stuff that they have shot. We don’t all really show each other… I will have to wait and see.

i’m really glad they’re making theon more sympathetic

but at the same time 

robb marrying jeyne and cat releasing jaime have to be because of theon and ramsay “killing” bran and rickon

not robb falling in love with jeyne

or catelyn making a dumb decision or being tricked, considering how the writers apparently love ruining her character  

because even though robb and cat’s decisions are indirectly theon’s fault 

that’s the tragedy of the story 

so i hope they’re making us understand theon more so we know why he takes winterfell and then we can all sob when cat and robb think bran and rickon are dead

and they’re not making him sympathetic only to clear his name of all of his actions in the book 

because yeah, he’s not completely innocent, but he’s misguided and has the right intentions and that’s what makes him who he is.
